Classical Healing Classical Healing “The selections chosen for this recording Represent the basic principles of classical music in general: Order, harmony and balance. [Tom Barabas']gentle piano playing Results in compositions that sound as if they were meant to be used for relaxation and massage therapy.” - MASSAGE MAGAZINE
Customer Review: Tom Barabas modern classical master & sound healer
Tom Barabas has done an amazing job choosing these classical pieces and performing them with his naturally soothing touch. His own composition (first track on the album) matches the quality of the great classical masters (Bach, Beethoven, Motzart, etc.) showing him to be the musical genius he is. When one listens to standard classical pieces, there are always big bombastic surprises in the middle, disrupting the overall peaceful experience. In CLASSICAL HEALING, you will not be surprised by unwanted excitement and instead can confidently use this album for massage, body work, and even meditation. It really succeeds in creating a healing space.
Customer Review: Relaxing Healing
If relaxing is naturally healing to our bodies, minds, and spirits, this CD does exactly that.

Jazz and ’70s Customer Review: Jazz with a theme
I heard this CD (background) in a cool restaurant (Cafe de Artists) in Puerta Vallarta Mexico. It was so great to recognize 70’s music lyrics done with a hip jazz tune. I would highly rate it for party music.

Blues Alive

Blues Alive Blues Alive Customer Review: Gary Live!
I always enjoy live CD’s because they don’t have the studio magic affecting the music. Not that studio work is bad but when you have a live recording, it just seems more powerful as the artists seem to feed off the audience energy. Many of the tracks from “After Dark” with a few others thrown in. If you like Gary Moore, you will like this CD. If you like live CDs and classic rock, you should also get Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young’s 4 Way Street. Southern Man and Carry On on disc 2 are awesome, some of the best live jamming you will ever hear.
Customer Review: Great Blueshredding!!
Gary Moore was arguably the first “blueshredder”–that is, the first guitarist to combine the technical elements of 80’s metal shredding guitar and the power and emotion of blues guitar. While his style was tamer in subsequent releases, Gary’s style of blueshredding is still alive and well today in players like Joe Bonamassa and Eric Gales. Blues purists hate blueshredders because they think they overplay and do not concentrate on emotion. Sorry, but I disagree. The emotion that Gary Moore pours out of his guitar is straight from the heart, and his tendency to throw in dazzling, lightning-fast runs only adds to the excitement, for me. Every song is a WINNER on this CD!! Gary smokes like you wouldn’t believe!

Rhythm & Booze: 25 Shots of Vintage R&B

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Rhythm & Booze: 25 Shots of Vintage R&B Rhythm & Booze: 25 Shots of Vintage R&B The pleasures of drinking have been celebrated in music throughout history, and on ‘Rhythm & Booze’ we’ve gathered together a selection of tracks written specifically on the subject of alcohol, with the occasional reference to the female of the species. The tracks are all from the height of the R&B era (the 1940’s-1950’s), pre-rock ‘n’ roll. Heavy drinking has always been over-glamorized and certainly after World War II excessive behaviour was tolerated and accepted, rather than frowned upon. For the first time many people had a disposable income; money in their pocket to spend as they wished. Lounges and late-night clubs sprung up all over the place, either featuring live acts or housing a jukebox. Big swing bands were replaced with smaller ensembles, with a tinkling piano or honking sax as the main focus of the group. A style called ‘jump blues’ became popular - an energetic and often humorous form of R&B.

The Day the Country Died

The Day the Country Died The Day the Country Died Customer Review: (less than 1 star) SUB -UK SUBS (and that believe me that is sub)
Dross. My copy had a ten minute life - went into the garbage when I got to the fourth (it felt like fortieth) track. Its all shout, shout, shout, boring , boring. I like angry music, but there has to be some skill and subtlety, not just “I’m angry”. The people who like this CD will use the “kickass” defence, meaning it’s great because the lead singer is sweating when he’s singing this garbage. As for the socio-political message of this record, I was a teenager in Thatcher’s Britain and living in a poor housing estate but even I can’t get anything out of this. I hate the “Oy I’m a cockney (meaning I’m from London)guy” style the lead singer has. It’s what all Britains most one dimensional punk bands (UK subs or Sham 69 or all that Oi! stuff for example) rely on to make themselves sound authentic and angry. I’d be angry if I listened to that stuff all day. Britains best ever punk group are from the north of England and are just as passioniate as “The Subhumans”. The group are, of course, Leatherface. Leatherface’s singer and guitarist, Frankie Stubbs can to do more with his little finger than the whole of The Subhumans with their all their posturing and ranting and heavy sweating. I repeat - The Subhumans are dross (means garbage). If you choose to spend even 10 dollars on this, then please, don’t blame me. You should be putting the 10 dollars towards “Mush” or “Horsebox” by Leatherface. It makes me angry that people could think that this album should be even mentioned in same breath as “Mush” by Leatherface!! Name the great (or even bearable) songs on “The Day the Country died”?
Customer Review: Best punk band ever!
The Subhumans might just go down as the greatest punk band of all time. This CD sums them up pretty good too. It is great. It has all their best songs. They’re missing a few great ones though. if you want more great Subhumans, check out the songs, “Religious wars”, “Apathy”, and “Rats”. Their best song is probably “apathy”. “Black and white” is the best song off this CD.

Assault Attack/Rock Will Never Die

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Assault Attack/Rock Will Never Die Assault Attack/Rock Will Never Die 1996 release on BGO, a two CD set in a double slimline jewel case featuring two of their albums remastered from the original master tapes with extensive sleeve notes and faithfully restored artwork: 1982’s ‘Assault Attack’ and 1984’s ‘Rock Will Never Die’. 17 tracks total, including ‘Captain Nemo’, ‘Doctor, Doctor’, ‘Assault Attack’ and ‘Are You Ready To Rock’.
Customer Review: Acquired Taste
Having lost both Cozy Powell on drums and Gary Barden on vocals, many fans waited with baited breath to hear the next MSG studio offering back in `82. Then came album no. 4 “Assault Attack”, still trademark Schenker but sounding very different with renowned new vocalist Graham Bonnet.
I think that Graham Bonnet is very much an acquired taste. I was not happy back in ‘82 when I found out that the screamer was replacing Barden in the line up. I was also more than pleased when Barden returned, Mr. Bonnet having left rather abruptly after one album and a solitary performance in Sheffield. But you have to admit that the dynamic vocals do help to make this a good album with quality performances by both Bonnet and Schenker.
“Desert Song” is easily the best track, a beautifully constructed atmospheric number powerfully sung. The title track “Assault Attack” was recently used as a tour opener when I saw him only last month and is a powerful rocker. My other stand outs are “Broken Promises” and the timeless bluesy guitar number “Rock you to the Ground”. “Dancer” was the attempt at a more commercial style and recorded as a single and along with “Searching for a Reason” are perhaps the weaker songs. To Mr. Bonnet’s credit I guess there are very few singers around with the vocal range and power to pull off these numbers live to the same intensity. I therefore feel that despite a huge catalogue of material to choose from for live gigs these songs are largely ancient history.
